Dr. Adams Says, “Make Kids’ Dental Hygiene Fun.”

At Adams & Seaton Pediatric Dentistry, we’ve served Nashville families since 1977 in a relaxed, non-intimidating setting. Dr. Adam and the staff always ask ourselves, “What would we do for our own child. That caring, gentle vibe inspires how we teach kids about brushing and flossing.

At Adams & Seaton, we aim to make dental visits fun too. As one of the best pediatric dentists nashville has to offer, we provide gentle dental care for kids of all ages—including those with special needs. These home-based activities carry that same vibe into daily life.

Tips for Parents

Teaching kids about dental hygiene can be a challenging task, but it doesn’t have to be a chore. With a little creativity and some fun strategies, you can make oral care an enjoyable part of your child’s daily routine.

Here are some effective ways to teach kids about dental hygiene:

Brushing routines
Let kids choose a favorite 2-minute song to brush their teeth to. Music makes brushing fun, not a chore. Timers and songs help kids brush long enough.

Storytime with teeth
Turn tooth care into a story. Say, “The sugar bugs tried to attack. Mighty toothbrush to the rescue!” Stories make brushing an adventure.

Cute rewards chart
Make a chart with stickers. For every day they brush twice, they add a sticker. After a set goal, reward them with a small prize, or a fun activity.

Fun gear
Let kids pick toothbrushes and toothpaste flavors. A toothbrush with their favorite color or character makes them want to use it.

Family brushing time
Brush together as a family. Kids love imitating parents. It also shows that dental care is normal and important.

Brushing apps

Check the apps available for your phone or tablet. Some apps are games, others are instructions given my cartoon characters, and others are timers or play music.
